Two Bridges Lads Create Beauty on Roosevelt Island

At Two Bridges, we often say our mission goes beyond the pitch. This week, the lads proved it by trading their cleats for work gloves and showing what it truly means to give back. In collaboration with the Roosevelt Island Garden Club, our young men took on the challenge of creating a brand-new gravel pathway to make the garden safer and more accessible for its members.

Under the leadership of our dedicated academic advisor and coordinator, Kim Massey, the lads embraced the project with enthusiasm. They moved gravel, spread compost, and learned the art of nurturing the earth—gaining some invaluable gardening skills along the way. It was an eye-opening experience, proving that even young men can “move the Earth” and leave behind a legacy of beauty and purpose. By the end of the day, they left with a sense of accomplishment—and a few green thumbs to show for it.

Roosevelt Island has been more than just a training ground for us over the past few years. With its stunning field, excellent lighting, and access to facilities like bathrooms and water fountains, the community has offered us a home and a sense of belonging. It’s a place that has nurtured not only our athletic skills but also our appreciation for giving back to the spaces that welcome us.

This pathway-building endeavor wasn’t just about the work; it was about gratitude. The lads recognized the value of what Roosevelt Island offers and were thrilled to contribute to its beauty and functionality. The experience was a testament to how community partnerships can inspire young people to connect with their surroundings and understand the power of service.

We couldn’t be prouder of our players for embodying the spirit of Two Bridges—on and off the field. And this is just the beginning. The lads are already looking forward to future opportunities to give back and strengthen their ties to the Roosevelt Island community.

It’s amazing what can happen when young men work together with purpose and passion. They don’t just move gravel—they move hearts and minds. Roosevelt Island, thank you for inspiring us and giving us the chance to create something meaningful. We can’t wait to see where this partnership takes us next.
